Why a student should care about a sold-out golf day
The ticket price puts this well outside most student budgets, and that is exactly why it is worth knowing about: it is an eight-hour block where a few hundred Ottawa business and community leaders are relaxed and talking to each other. If you are working somewhere this summer, ask whether the firm has bought a foursome and whether a seat has opened up, or whether they need someone to help run a hole. Volunteering or filling an empty spot is the realistic way in at this stage of a career, and the cocktail reception and dinner at the end of the day are where most of the actual conversation happens.
